Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong-won plans to visit Sochi next week to attend the closing ceremony of the Winter Games and promote PyeongChang as the host for the next Games, his office said Thursday.
During his four-day visit to the Russian city of Sochi starting Feb. 21, Chung is scheduled to promote Korea’s efforts for the successful hosting of the upcoming Olympics in 2018.
“He plans to meet with high-level figures from the International Olympic Committee and the Russian government to share know-how of the successful sporting event and to boost cooperation in the field,” Chung’s secretariat said in a release.
Chung will also attend the closing ceremony on Feb. 23, it added. (Yonhap)
