K-pop sensation EXO is planning to hold a special two-day event for Japanese fans from April 12-13 in Tokyo, Japan.
The fan meeting is EXO ’s first official event for Japanese fans, who sent a flood of requests for EXO to visit Japan. Durign the fan meeting, EXO will meet some 70,000 fans and perform four times.
Japanese daily Nikkan Sports also extensively covered the news of EXO’s upcoming event, echoing Japanese fans’ growing interest in EXO even before the rookie idol band’s official Japanese debut.
EXO, a South Korean-Chinese boy band consisting of 12 members, has enjoyed explosive popularity at home and abroad since making its official debut in early 2012.
Their first full-length album has sold more than 1.4 million by far, according to the Gaon chart, sweeping local pop charts.
The idol band also earned numerous honors in 2013-2014, including Album of the Year at the Mnet Asia Music Awards, song of the year at the Melon Music Awards for their song “Growl” and top prize at the Golden Disk Awards and Seoul Music Awards.
