Koreans watch an average of 4.12 films at cinemas a year, the most in the world, a report said Sunday.
According the Screen Digest report, Koreans topped the list with 4.12 films, followed by Americans with 3.88 films, Australians with 3.75 and the French with 3.44.
This is the first time for Koreans to claim the title of most enthusiastic moviegoers. According to the Korean Film Council, more than 200 million tickets were sold in cinemas this year as of Dec. 18, boosting the domestic movie theater market to 1.5 trillion won. The market share of Korean movies also reached 59.1 percent in 2013, surpassing that of foreign films, which stood at 40.9 percent, it said.
