크리스마스를 맞아 미국 요리사가 만든 대형 쿠키 마을이 화제다.
총 164개의 건물로 구성된 이 마을은 180kg의 사탕과 220kg의 생강 쿠키 반죽 등으로 제작됐으며, 이는 총 70만 칼로리에 이르는 양이다.
또한 이 마을의 전체 넓이는 28㎡•무게 1.5톤으로 기네스북 기록에도 올랐다.
이 대형 쿠키 마을은 내년 1월까지 뉴욕과학관에 전시되며 전시 마지막 날에는 아이들에게 마을의 집을 한 채씩 떼어 나눠줄 예정이다.
쿠키를 제작한 존 로비치(37)는 지난 2월 초부터 이 일을 시작해 완성하는데 약 9개월의 시간이 소요됐다고 전했다.
그는 뉴욕타임즈와의 인터뷰에서 “내가 나가서 도박하고 술 마시지 않으니까 아내가 집에서 이 일(쿠키 만들기)을 하는 것을 좋아한다”고 말했다.

The 37-year-old chef said he spent nine months on the gingerbread village and is working on a second one.
“My wife likes the fact that I work on it at home and I’m not out gambling or drinking,” he told the New York Times.
