프랑스 소설가 베르나르 베르베르가 장편 ‘개미’의 한국어판 출간 20주년과 신작 ‘제3인류’ 출간을 기념해 방한한다.
베르베르는 14일부터 20일까지 한국에 머무는 동안 두 차례의 대중강연과 교보문고에서의 사인회, 독자와의 식사자리를 가지며 팬들을 만날 계획이다. 베르베르가 2010년 서울국제도서전 이후 3년만의 한국 방문이다.
베르베르는 1993년 출간된 ‘개미’가 베스트셀러에 오르는 것을 시작으로 내놓는 작품마다 한국 독자들의 꾸준한 사랑을 받았다. 5권으로 이루어진 소설 ‘개미’는 지금까지 약 140만부가 판매됐다.
작가의 방한 일정에 발맞추어 출판사 열린책들은 ‘베르베르 e전집 앱’을 출시할 예정이다. 독자들은 곧 애플 앱스토어에서 다운로드 후 베르베르의 작품 15종 29권을 구입해 읽을 수 있게 된다.
뿐만 아니라 장편 ‘빅 픽처’로 사랑받은 미국 작가 더글러스 케네디도 12월 초 방한해 일주일간 한국에 머물며 사인회 등을 통해 독자를 만날 계획이다.
‘악인’을 쓴 일본 작가 요시다 슈이치도 신작 ‘태양은 없다’ 출간 기념으로 다음 달 6일 교보문고 광화문점에서 사인회를 연다.

The renowned French novelist Bernard Werber is to visit Korea to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Korean translation of his book “Empire of Ants” and his latest publication “Third Humanity.”
The acclaimed author plans to hold two public lectures and a book signing event with Kyobo Book Centre, along with a lunch with readers during his week-long visit starting on Thursday. His last visit was made in 2010 when he came to attend the Seoul International Book Fair.

For his visit, his Korean publisher Open Books Co. plans to launch an app called “Bernard E-Collection” in the Apple App Store. The app will feature the complete works of the author made available for mobile phones and tablets.
