As winter sets in, a variety of organizations have donated charcoal bricks to poor residents across the country.

Korea Zinc executives and employees participated in the event held by the Seoul chapter of the Korean Red Cross to deliver 10,000 charcoal bricks to 50 households in the Nowon-gu district of Seoul on Monday. The company workers and Red Cross volunteers lined up to relay the bricks as well as blankets and ramen.

In Busan, a regional Buddhist volunteering group joined a philanthropic event to deliver charcoal bricks to needy neighbors.

On Sunday, in the Seocho-gu district of Seoul, Eonnam High School volunteers, together with alumni of the ROTC 17th Class, relayed about 4,000 charcoal bricks to 20 households including old people living alone in poverty.

On Saturday, Minister of Justice Hwang Kyo-ahn and other ministry officials volunteered to give charcoal bricks to impoverished one-person households in the Dobong-gu district of Seoul. In the nearby district of Seongbuk-gu, volunteer firefighters of Seongbuk Fire Department transported bricks by hand to low-income families.

On Thursday in Daejeon, about 40 Hanwha Life volunteers distributed charcoal bricks to 33 seniors living alone in poverty. In the Dongdaemungu district of Seoul, Yoo Deok-yeol, chief of the district, along with Kang Shin-ho, chairman of Dong-A ST, joined the line of volunteers to carry charcoal bricks to poor neighbors.
