Ssangyong Motor on Wednesday opened its largest-ever dealership in Istanbul, Turkey, with the aim to expand its global sales network targeting Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

The new eight-story building, located on an 11,300-square-meter site in downtown Istanbul, is the largest in size of Ssangyong’s sales outlets in 111 countries.

During the opening event, the Korean carmaker also launched its latest vehicles ― the new Korando C (the New Korando in Turkey) and the Korando Turismo (the New Rodius).

Under a partnership signed in 2007 with a local automotive retailer, Sahsuvaroglu Dis Ticaret, Ssangyong sells about 2,600 vehicles every year in Turkey.

The two companies recently agreed to extend the contract by 2018, pledging to increase sales volume to some 5,000 units by 2015 and the number of dealerships from the current 26 to 40.
