Samsung Electronics vice chairman Lee Jae-yong has joined the Business Council, an organization of leading CEOs in the United States, the company said Saturday.

Lee, who became a full member of the council earlier this year, left for California on Thursday to attend a council meeting, the company said.

The Washington, D.C.-based council was founded in 1933 by then-Secretary of Commerce Daniel Roper as the Business Advisory Council for the department.

It has some 150 members, including the CEOs of General Motors, Master Card, Amazon and Coca-Cola. (Yonhap News)
