In the past few years, the Slovakian Embassy here has been active in introducing the Korean public to an array of its unique national culture, such as Slovak music, dance, theater, photography and film.

Now it has turned its chancery into an art gallery, exhibiting the paintings of artist Jana Jamborova.

“I would like to introduce Slovakia as a land of colors, how it has been seen, felt and painted by this pastel painter,” Slovak Ambassador to South Korea Dusan Bella during an exhibition opening at the embassy in Hannam-dong in Seoul on Monday.

Jamborova is in South Korea to take part in the Culture and Art Festival at Mosan Art Museum in Boryeong City, South Chungcheong Province.

Jamborova’s career was distinguished in jewelry design and craftwork in the 1980s and 90s, but recently she has devoted her artwork to pastels.

Titled “Slovakia: Land of Colors,” the exhibition at the embassy showcases ethereal compositions that the artist said were inspired by the lush landscapes of the Turiec region of Slovakia. Twelve of her artworks are on display at the chancery.

“I was very pleased that now we can enjoy her pastel paintings in this exhibition,” Bella said.

The embassy also showcased traditional Slovak cuisine, roasted goose and other delicacies by flying in Anna Jajcayova, owner and operator of Cellar of Golden Goose restaurant in Slovensky Grob, just outside the Slovakian capital city of Bratislava.
