Japanese architect Toyo Ito’s sketch and an Alessi cup gift set inspired by it will be auctioned at the Herald Design Forum next month.
The “Ripples” drawing by the winner of the 2013 Pritzker Prize features green frogs creating ripples on a pond. The coffee cup set by the Italian kitchen utensil brand Alessi consists of two simple white porcelain cups accented with green frogs and white saucers.
Ito’s works will be on display on the first floor of Blue Square, the main venue of the Herald Design Forum, on Oct. 8, with more works by other forum speakers, including clothes by French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a sketch by U.K-based design consulting firm Tangerine’s copresident Lee Dontae and a product designed by Italian designer Stefano Giovannoni.
Participants of the forum can submit written bids after viewing the display. Starting prices are not fixed. Highest bidders will be announced after the forum on Oct. 8.
The proceeds from the auction will be donated to local charity groups.
The Herald Design Forum will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Blue Square, Hannam-dong, Seoul.
