American rock band The Killers, who brought listeners hits “Somebody Told Me” and “Mr. Brightside,” will be hitting the stage in Seoul for the band’s first concert in Korea on Oct. 5.

The upcoming concert is the 12th installment of the “Hyundai Card Culture Project” series, which in the past brought acts such as Keane, John Legend, Ke$ha, Jason Mraz, Kraftwerk, Mika and Damien Rice. 

Formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by lead vocalist Brandon Flowers and guitarist Dave Keuning ― later joined by Mark Stoermer (bass) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums) ― The Killers took to the venues of Las Vegas with their unique sound. The boys caught the attention of a representative of Lizard King Records, a U.K. indie label, and eventually signed a record deal with the agency in 2002.

A year later the group released its first studio album “Hot Fuss,” featuring the band’s international hit singles “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me.” “Mr. Brightside” became the band’s first Top 10 hit on the U.K. and U.S. Billboard music charts. The band was nominated for three Grammy awards including Best Rock Album. Rolling Stone magazine has listed the album at No. 33 on its list of “The 100 Best Debut Albums of All Time.”

Since then The Killers have released three other studio albums ― “Sam’s Town,” “Day & Age” and “Battle Born” ― and have produced a number of hit singles such as “Human,” “When You Were Young” and “Runaways,” the last of which was voted the Best Song of Summer 2012 by Rolling Stone. To date, the band has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide.

The Killers will perform on Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Olympic Hall at Seoul Olympic Park. Tickets for the show will go on sale Aug. 27 for Hyundai Card members and the following day for the general public. Ticket prices are between 77,000 won and 121,000 won.
