Samsung C&T, the construction and trading affiliate of Samsung Group, is seeing rapid growth in Singapore.
The Korean builder has secured a solid position in the Southeast Asian country since it entered the construction market there in 1992, company officials said.
As of July, the company was implementing 17 projects in Singapore worth around $5 billion.
Samsung C&T already successfully completed several construction projects in the country, one of which was to build underground tunnels for the Marina Coastal Expressway.
By adopting cutting-edge technology, the construction was able to be completed earlier than had been expected, company officials said.
In addition, the company won a project to build Singapore’s first LNG terminal in 2010. This year, the company also won two major contracts to construct the tallest office building, Tanjong Pagar, and a subway line, Thomson Line T213.
Company officials believe that its success driver lies in localizing its service along with hiring good staff.
The company has also increased its efforts to have a favorable relationship with its partners, especially those which have professional skills and capacity.
The company puts quality, safety and the environment as a top priority, which has been recognized with the highest “Star” rating from Singapore Building and Construction Authority in 2012.
