For those having trouble sleeping at night, a local pillow manufacturer has applied acupressure methods to its new product.
T&I said it combined the therapeutic effects of the memory foam pillow and a still point inducer to support one’s cervical spine and improve circulation of cerebrospinal fluid at the same time.
While the head is resting on the pillow, raised bumps apply gentle pressure to the atlanto-occipital joint to enhance the flow of cerebrospinal fluid. A substance in cerebrospinal fluid called somnogen induces deep sleep, according to scientists.
The C-shaped pillow named KANUDA has earned recognition from the Korean Physical Therapy Association for its effectiveness in inducing deep sleep and maintaining posture.
“KANUDA is the world’s first pillow designed to treat people having trouble with sleep at home,” T&I CEO Yoo Young-ho claimed, adding that he planned to promote the product overseas next year.
