Sanirang Alpine Networks, a Seoul-based climbing school specializing in catering to expats, is offering training camps for middle and high schoolers this summer.
The overnight youth Climbing Camps run on June 29-30 and July 27-28 and take place at Bukhansan National Park in northeastern Seoul.
The course, given in English, will cover basic climbing, abseiling and belaying at an artificial wall on the first day. They will then move to Bukhansan National Park to learn good practice when hiking and camping and activities on how to minimize their impact on the environment, as well as an introduction to camp cooking. The second day will teach a wider variety of rock climbing techniques including slab climbing and crack climbing.
The camps cost 350,000 won ($350), including food, climbing equipment and insurance. Deadline for registration, which can be done via www.sanirang.net, is Thursday for the June camp and July 12 for the July camp.
