Dwight School Seoul said it has been authorized to offer a globally recognized diploma program.

The International Baccalaureate, an educational foundation based in Geneva, recently approved the foreign school in Seoul to offer the IB Diploma Program starting later this year, according to the school.

The two-year IB Diploma Program is primarily aimed at students aged 16―19 and provides the skills and knowledge essential to pursuing a college education.

Students completing the diploma course will receive a certificate from the IB. The IB diploma certificate is currently recognized by prestigious universities worldwide.

The process to become authorized for the IB Diploma program typically takes two to three years. To be authorized, each school must pass an intensive evaluation process and meet the IB standard curriculum.

“We’re delighted to have received IB Diploma Program authorization in recognition of Dwight School Seoul’s record of success within our first year,” Kevin Skeoch, head of Dwight School Seoul, said in a statement.

“We’re also proud that our school, which is dedicated to igniting the spark of genius in every child, has earned a reputation within the Seoul community as a top choice for parents seeking an international education for their children,” he added.

Dwight has a network of international campuses and programs, which includes the Dwight School in New York, Dwight School London, and Dwight School Canada in Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia.

Dwight School Seoul was built inside the Digital Media City complex in western Seoul in 2012. In its first year, the school admitted some 300 students ranging from preschool to grade 10.

The school announced that it would now admit students in grades 11 and 12 over the next two years for the IB Diploma Program.
