YG Entertainment, one of the country’s largest talent agencies, on Friday said that Akdong Musician, this year’s winner of SBS TV’s audition program “K Pop Star 2,” will be joining the clan after nearly two months of contemplation.

“We have met the musicians and their parents several times and finally reached an agreement. Despite their young age, the duo showed huge potential with their self-composed songs on ‘K Pop Star 2,’” the agency said in a press release.

Akdong Musician, composed of lyricist and composer Lee Chan-hyuk and his younger sister and main vocalist Lee Soo-hyun, have amused TV viewers with self-composed songs such as “Don’t Cross Your Legs,” “A Foreigner’s Confession,” “Crescendo” and “It is Ramen,” which flaunt humorous words and familiar but unique melody lines. The songs topped Korean music charts instantly after being presented on the show.

The 17-year-old and 15-year-old said they were looking for a good environment to develop their music.

The founder and main producer of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk, who was among the judges of the audition program, stated that he will not change the sibling’s unique image or their music style.

Akdong Musician’s moves are expected to solidify YG’s reputation in the music business as it has already bagged top-notch musicians such as global superstar Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1, Epik High, alongside “super rookie” Lee Hi. The company nabbed first place on a 2009 survey by www.dcinside.com for the most desired talent agency and was named the “Power Man in showbiz” by Sports Hankook newspaper last year.

Yang said in a previous interview that he tries to provide the best conditions to his artists and respects their individuality.
