More than 140 fans fainted during Korean boy band Super Junior’s concert in Brazil on Sunday.

The 10-member group kicked off its world tour “Super Show 5” at Creditcard Hall in Sao Paulo, drawing some 8,000 people.

As the atmosphere hit a fever pitch, 146 fans suffered breathing problems or lost consciousness during the show. They were carried on stretchers and in wheelchairs by first-aid workers at the scene.

Fernanda, a doctor on the emergency medical team, said it was surprising to see so many fans faint at the hall where concerts by the Jonas Brothers, Jamiroquai and other international pop stars were held.

He added that it showed how big an impact the Korean group had on Brazil’s pop culture.

Successfully wrapping up its first Brazil concert, Super Junior will continue its Latin American tour with upcoming gigs in Argentina, Chile and Peru.

슈퍼주니어 브라질 콘서트서 팬 146명 실신

슈퍼주니어가 21일 브라질에서 첫 단독 콘서트를 열고 남미 팬들을 만났다.

브라질 상파울루 크레딧카드 홀에서 있었던 슈퍼주니어의 월드 투어 ’슈퍼 쇼 파이브(SUPER SHOW 5)’는 8,000여명의 팬들이 모인 가운데 성황리에 마무리됐다.

이 날 뜨거운 공연 분위기 속에 146명의 팬들이 실신하거나 호흡곤란을 호소해 휠체어에 실려 나오는 등 현지 의료진들에 의해 치료를 받았다.

긴급 의료팀 의사인 페르난다(28)는 이렇게 탈진자가 많이 나오는 콘서트는 처음 봤다면서 브라질 현지에서 슈퍼주니어의 인기가 대단하다는 사실을 느낄 수 있었다고 전했다.

한편, 브라질 공연을 성공적으로 마친 슈퍼주니어는 23일 아르헨티나 부에노스아이레스, 25일 칠레 산티아고, 27일 페루 리마에서 남미 투어를 이어갈 예정이다.(코리아 헤럴드)
