South Korean rapper Psy’s global mega-hit “Gangnam Style” has landed at 39th for this week on Britain’s top 40 singles chart, marking the single’s 31st straight week on the list, according to the chart updated on Sunday (British time).
Psy topped the chart on Sept. 30 with “Gangnam Style,” the first time a Korean singer has reached No. 1. He has since enjoyed steady popularity without any particular promotional activities in Britain.
The single earlier became the 129th track to sell more than a million copies in the 60-year history of the U.K. Charts compiled by the country’s Official Charts Company, making him the first Asian artist to reach the milestone.
Psy is set to unveil a follow-up to the hit single for the first time in the world in South Korea on April 12 and celebrate the release in a concert to be held at a soccer stadium the next day.
On Monday, the singer showed much confidence in the new song.
“At last, I got a song and dance moves that are just the right match,” Psy tweeted in Korean. “I also have a concept for an interesting music video for the song.” (Yonhap News)
