Actress Tilda Swinton is performing the art of sleeping at New York City's Museum of Modern Art.

A musem spokeswoman says the ``Moonrise Kingdom'' star presented her one-person piece called ``The Maybe'' on Saturday.

In ``The Maybe,'' Swinton lies sleeping in a glass box for the day. The exhibit will move locations within the museum every time Swinton performs.

There is no published schedule for the piece, which will occur about a half dozen more times through the end of the year.

Swinton first performed the piece at the Serpentine Gallery in London in 1995. In 1996, she performed it in the Museo Barracco in Rome.

She won an Oscar in 2008 for best supporting actress for her role in ``Michael Clayton.'' (AP)

할리우드 여배우 틸다 스윈튼(52)이 뉴욕 현대 미술관에서 유리 상자안에서 잠을 자는 행위예술을 펼친다.

미술관 대변인은 스윈튼이 토요일 (현지시각) 하루간 “더 메이비 (The Maybe)”라는 작품명의 행위예술로 관객들을 만날 예정이며 이번 작품 외에도 올해 안에 해당 미술관의 다른 장소에서 예술을 선보일 것이라고 말했지만 다음 공연의 정확한 날짜는 확인되지 않았다. 

미술관 측은 스윈튼의 퍼포먼스를 선보이기 위해 지난 7년간 프로젝트를 추진한 것으로 전해졌다. 

“더 메이비”는 지난 1995년 아티스트 코넬리아 파커와의 합작으로 런던의 서펜틴 갤러리에서 처음 공개됐으며 그 후 스윈튼은 로마와 파리에서 같은 작품을 선보인 바 있다.
