The energy was electrifying and the atmosphere kept the fans’ hearts pumping. Add to that a live band, DJ set and a group of men who know how to spit rhymes and let loose on the stage ― the 2013 Amoebahood Concert was nothing short of a night of youthful exuberance and good old hip-hop. 

The two-day concert held over the weekend in the Olympic Hall at Seoul Olympic Park featured all the artists of the Amoebaculture family, who also just happen to be some of the biggest names in Korean hip-hop: Dynamic Duo, Supreme Team, Primary, Rhythm Power, Zion.T, Planet Shiver, and Yankie filled the venue with raw energy and powerful, skillful rapping that kept the crowd dancing.

The concert opened Saturday with all seven teams on the stage in a collaboration performance of Supreme Team’s “Super Magic” and Dynamic Duo’s “Attendance Check,” followed by performances by DJ Primary and various members of the different hip-hop teams.

The rising new star Zion.T ― whose inexpugnable, unique voice, which sounds a bit like reggae-inspired Akon with a mellow twist, has put him on the radar as an artist to keep an eye on ― made fans go wild with his soulful voice as he performed his latest single “Two Melodies” alongside Crush. The up-and-coming artist also hinted to his fans about a possible debut album release.

The self-proclaimed hooligans of the Supreme Team Simon D and E-Sens lit up the stage after a long-awaited comeback for the group. Supreme Team’s group activities were suspended for nearly two years after member E-Sens was charged with smoking marijuana. However, the two have combined forces once again and made their comeback official. The two unveiled their yet-to-be released single, “Geudaero Isseododwae” featuring Crush, and announced that they would be releasing a new album on March 19.

Highlights of the night were the veteran hip-hoppers who have been friends since elementary school, Choiza and Gaeko of the infamous Dynamic Duo, who brought back some of their classic hit songs like “Superstar,” “Confession” and “Guilty.”

The opening night concluded on a high note with “Friday Night,” with the duo and the members of Rhythm Power leaving the crowd fired up and screaming for more.
