Florida police said a woman barricaded herself in a motel room, fired off 18 shots and threatened suicide because she was upset about her unfaithful boyfriend.

Daytona Beach police said officers were called to the Sun & Surf Motel at 5 p.m. EDT Wednesday when Heather Beaver, 21, barricaded herself in a motel room with a firearm after an argument with her boyfriend of three years, Craig Garris, about his cheating, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported Friday.

Beaver fired off 18 rounds during the standoff, some of which went in the direction of police. No one was injured by the bullets.

Police said Beaver, who threatened to kill herself, surrendered shortly before 7:20 p.m. when tear gas was used in the room. (UPI)

바람난 남자친구에 화가 난 한 여성이 모텔 방에서 총기를 난사하며 자살 소동을 벌였다.

헤더 비버 (21)는 3년 동안 교제한 남자친구 크레이그 게리스와 해변으로 여행을 떠났다가 크레이그가 다른 여자를 만난다는 사실을 알고 화가나 권총 실탄 18여 발을 발사했다.

크레이그는 응급전화로 사건을 신고해 부상을 모면했지만 이 사건으로 모텔 안의 다른 투숙객들은 대피해야 했다.

“방안에는 실탄 30발을 가진 이성을 잃은 여성이 있었다. 길거리와 해변에 많은 사람들이 있었으며 벽은 종이처럼 얇았다. 그녀가 밖으로 나와 누구라도 쏠 수 있던 상황이었다”라고 데이토나 해변 경찰서장 마이크 칫우드가 말했다.

경찰이 도착하자 감정이 격해진 헤더는 더 많은 실탄을 발사했으며 경찰은  최루탄을 사용해 헤더를 진압했다.

사건 당일 헤더는 크레이그와의 말다툼 후 모텔에 혼자 들어와 하루종일 술을 마신 것으로 알려졌다.

현재 헤더는 살인미수 혐의 등으로 구치소에서 수감 중이다.
