Local publishing company Woongjin ThinkBig has been nominated for a prestigious prize by the annual Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy.
The company has been nominated for the BOP Bologna Prize for Best Children’s Publishers of the Year, according to the festival’s website.
The prize has been newly launched for the upcoming edition as the event celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
A total of 29 publishers have been nominated for the prize in six continental categories: Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, Central and South America, and Oceania. One publisher from each category will be awarded.
Woongjin is competing against four other Asian publishers ― Taiwan’s Grimm Press, India’s Tara Books, Japan’s Doshinsha Publishing, and the UAE’s Kalimat.
Founded in 1963, Bologna Children’s Book Fair is considered one of the leading professional fairs for children’s books in the world. This year’s edition runs from March 25 to 28. Winners will be announced during a special ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the fair.
