매니지먼트사 인우기획에 따르면, 트로트 가수 장윤정(33)이 지난달 6일 일본에서 발표한 싱글 2집 타이틀곡 ‘사이고노 카와’가 지난 4일 일본 유선 랭킹 차트 엔카 부문에서 1위에 올랐다.

이 차트는 일본 방송채널에서 소개된 곡 횟수와 음악 팬들이 ‘다시 듣고 싶은 곡’으로 신청한 횟수를 바탕으로 순위를 집계한다.

이에 대해 기획사는 “가장 순위에 오르기 어려운 ‘엔카차트’ 부문에서 외국인 가수가 1위를 차지한다는 것은 장윤정이 일본에서 대단히 높은 인기를 끌고 있다는 것”이라고 전했다.

이번 싱글에는 장윤정이 국내에서 발표한 ‘초혼’의 일본어 버전인 ‘사이고노카와’ 등 모두 네 곡이 수록됐다. 사이고노카와 뮤직비디오에는 일본 엔카계의 대부이자 여성스러운 메이크업과 크로스 드레스업을 해 항상 화두에 있는 미카와 켄이치(66)가 특별 출연해 화제를 모은 바 있다.

한편 장윤정은 국내에서 남도 창과 트로트를 조합한 6집 타이틀곡 ‘왔구나 왔어’로 활발히 활동하고 있다.

Singer Jang Yoon-jung lands top spot in Japanese enka chart

Singer Jang Yoon-jung’s second Japanese single “Saigo no kawa,” or “Last River” in English, has reached No.1 on the enka chart, a chart for traditional Japanese popular music, on Feb. 4.

The enka chart lists popular songs that have been aired on different music stations, and songs that people like to hear repeatedly.

“A foreign singer getting the number one spot in the enka chart is very unlikely, and this proves her popularity,” said Inwoo production, the singer’s agency.

Her Japanese single, released on Feb. 6, features four songs, including “Saigo no kawa,” the Japanese version of Korean song, “Cho-hon.” The music video of her hit single was very controversial in Japan, featuring Kenichi Mikawa, a famous enka singer, who is famous for blurring the line between male and female costuming and make-up.

Jang made her debut as singer of trot, Korea’s oldest pop genre, in 2003. It was then rare for a young singer to adopt the genre, and she became an immediate starlet. Meanwhile, Jang is actively performing in Korea with her title track “Watguna Watseo,” from her sixth album released in October last year.
