Korean pop star Psy is set to visit Turkey for the first time to attend the Istanbul Blue Night festival.

Psy will arrive on the first day of the two-day festival that starts Feb. 20, the singer’s agency YG Entertainment said.

Psy’s world hit “Gangnam Style” also gained popularity in Turkey, with the country ranking fourth in terms of hits among countries that viewed the music video last year.

“Psy is very excited to visit Turkey for the first time and said he will heat up the Istanbul Blue Night festival with his world hit "Gangnam Style," said YG.

Following his schedule in Turkey, the 36-year-old singer will perform at the presidential inaugural ceremony on Feb. 25. He plans to perform “Gangnam Style” and “Champion” with revised lyrics reflecting hope and happiness.

또 싸이가 최근 트위터에 “다음 주 ‘이스탄불 블루 나이트’에서 팬들을 만난다니 흥분된다”는 글을 올리자 현지 팬들의 답글이 잇따랐다.

소속사는 “태국은 싸이가 처음 방문하는 나라지만 현지 반응이 무척 뜨겁다고 들었다”며 “‘이스탄불 블루 나이트’에선 ‘강남스타일’로 행사 분위기를 띄울 것”이 라고 설명했다.

싸이는 터키 일정을 마친 뒤 오는 24일 귀국해 25일 박근혜 대통령 당선인의 취임식 식전행사에서 공연한다. 그는 희망과 행복을 주제로 직접 가사를 바꾼 ‘강남스타일’과 ‘챔피언’을 선보인다. (코리아헤럴드)
