An X-rated website where embittered lovers anonymously post semi-nude pictures of their former partners was sued by its victims, according to American news outlets.

ABC News reported that 17 women whose pictures were posted on Texxxan.com filed a lawsuit against the website and its hosting company for invasion of privacy. The plaintiffs’ representative John Morgan said dozens more had joined the suit in the last two weeks.

The website allows “revenge porn,” where people can upload revealing photos of individuals, accompanied by their personal information such as names and addresses. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the website even exhibited obscene pictures of underage girls.

A 27-year-old woman explained to the San Francisco Chronicle how a complete stranger came up to her while she was shopping and told her that he had saved her pictures.

The victim added that people on the website were leaving insults about her, even concerning her unborn child.

Morgan said that Texxxan.com existed to “cause humiliation and emotional distress” to unknowing victims, and said it was “cyber rape” that dehumanizes women for the purpose of degrading them.

샌프란시스코 크로니클 지가 보도한 피해사례의 따르면, 한 27세 임산부의 경우 쇼핑 도중 전혀 모르는 남자가 다가와 “당신의 사진을 내 컴퓨터에 저장해놓았다”라고 한 적도 있다고 한다. 이 남성은 여성의 이름까지 알고 있었으며, 여성은 그 자리에서 도망칠 수밖에 없었다고 증언했다.

그녀는 이 웹사이트를 확인해본 결과, 이용자들이 자신이나 뱃속의 아이와 관련해서 모욕적인 댓글을 남겨놓은 것을 보고 경악했다고 한다.

모건은 텍산닷컴의 존재 이유가 수치심과 감정적인 괴로움을 유발하기 위한 것이라며, 이 사이트가 하고 있는 짓은 여성들을 비하하기 위해 비인간화하는 “사이버 성폭행”이라고 비난했다.
