As the tabloids speculated about whether Jessica Simpson is expecting again (she is) and the media zeroed in on Kate Middleton‘s acute morning sickness, Kim Kardashian says it was nice to be out of the media spotlight during the early stages of her pregnancy.

``I’m obviously so happy for them, but if anything I loved the privacy,‘’ the 32-year-old reality TV star said in an interview Wednesday.

That bit of privacy went out the window when Kardashian‘s boyfriend, Kanye West, revealed during a Dec. 30 concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that they are expecting their first child together.

Now that the word is out, Kardashian says her motherly instincts have made her pull back from being so open about her personal life.

``I think that definitely kicks in where you’re like, `OK, I have to go in protect mode,‘ and as ironic as it sounds, you live your life on a reality show but then when you grow up ... certain things change your life that make you want to be more private and this is definitely one of them.’‘

The couple went public with their relationship in March.

Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries in August 2011 and their divorce is not finalized.

West rarely grants interviews, and the 35-year-old rapper is the ying to the Kardashian family’s ``out there‘’ yang. Kim says she is somewhat influenced by West‘s approach.

``When you spend time with someone, you learn things from them, so I see what (his) views are in wanting to be private, so that’s a choice we make together as a family just in how we‘re gonna raise our kid,’‘ she said. ``... But my personal experience of having really open relationships on the show, I’ve done that, and for me I feel like I got really scrutinized when people didn‘t maybe understand my decisions at some point, so I feel like after that experience I’ve become more private more so than just like Kanye‘s views or anything.’‘

할리우드 배우 겸 모델 킴 카다시안 (Kim Kardashian)이 언론의 사생활 침해에 대한 불편한 심기를 드러냈다.

카다시안의 임신 소식은 지난 12월 30일 남자친구 카니예 웨스트 (Kanye West)가 뉴저지에서 열린 콘서트에서 이 사실을 공개하면서 전해졌다.

킴 카다시안은 AP와의 인터뷰에서 가쉽매체들이 미국 팝가수 제시카 심슨 임신설과 영국 왕세자비 케이트 미들턴의 입덧 소식을 앞다투어 전하는 것에 대해 적어도 임신 초기에는 언론의 집중을 덜 받고 싶다고 털어놨다.

그녀는 “그들의 임신 소식을 당연히 기쁘게 생각한다. 난 그저 사적인 생활을 즐기고 싶을 뿐이다”라며 모성본능이 자신의 사생활 공개를 꺼리게 만들었다고 말했다.

“리얼리티쇼에서 생활을 공개했던 내가 이런 말을 하는 게 아이러니하게 들리겠지만.. ‘좋아. 난 보호하는 쪽을 택하겠어”라는 생각이 들 때가 있다. 나이가 들면서 어떤 부분들에 사적 보호를 받고 싶은 부분이 있는데 나에겐 임신이 그렇다”고 말했다.

또 카다시안은 사생활을 중시 여기는 남자친구 웨스트의 영향을 받고 있다고 말했다.

“누군가와 많은 시간을 보내다 보면 상대방에게서 배우게 되는 것들이 있다. 그와 내가 가족으로서 아이를 어떻게 키울 것 인가하는 결정이기도 하다. 그렇지만 리얼리티쇼에서 내가 공개적으로 연애할 때, 사람들이 나를 조사하는 느낌을 받았다. 그래서 사생활을 지키기로 한 결심은 그저 카니예의 의견을 따르 것이라기 보다 예전의 경험을 토대로 만들어진 것이라고 볼 수 있다”고 말했다.

카다시안의 출산 예정일은 7월로 현재 2011년 8월에 결혼한 NBA선수 크리스 험프리스와의 이혼절차를 밟고 있는 중이다.
