Asan Foundation said Tuesday that it will award scholarships to about 1,700 university students this year.
They will include some 80 students of the newly created SOS Scholarship scheme, which will cover full tuition fees. The foundation plans to expand the portion of those scholarship recipients who currently teach underprivileged middle and high school students voluntarily.
Separately, Asan Foundation runs a scholarship program for children of soldiers, policemen and firefighters, and also pays online tutoring fees for students from low-income families.
The foundation is to receive university scholarship applications until Jan. 11.
