Professor Yoo Ki-pung, 59, has been appointed the new president of Sogang University in Seoul, the school announced on Tuesday.
The board of directors selected Yoo as the new head of the school in its general meeting on Monday, according to the university. His four-year term will begin March 2013.
Yoo earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering at Korea University, and his doctorate at the University of Connecticut in the United States.
He began teaching at Sogang University in 1984 and served as dean of the school of engineering as well as vice president of the school until recently. He worked previously as vice president of the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers.
