Hollywood star Kate Winslet unknowingly played a role in a documentary endorsing the legalization of drug use.

The video was produced by an organization in which her boyfriend and his uncle were involved, and Winslet asked the organization to remove the documentary from public view.

The documentary, posted on YouTube, is associated with the “Sundog Pictures” film company owned by Winslet’s boyfriend, Ned Rocknroll and with his uncle’s “Virgin Unite” foundation.

This short movie argues for the decriminalization of drug use, claiming that there is more harm than good in regulating drugs. The movie also shows other stars, such as Morgan Freeman and Yoko Ono, John Lennon’s widow. Alongside celebrities including famous businessman Richard Branson, Winslet says, “I’m Kate Winslet and I’m breaking the taboo.”

Kate Winslet, who only wanted to promote her new film released next week, had never heard of her appearance. A few days later, the organization expressed regret and said the documentary should have been featured in the film section, not supporting their campaign. Winslet’s name has been removed from the list of supporters of the documentary.

Winslet said in an interview that she was happy to spark debate on the issue but she is not asking for the legal right to take drugs. Winslet’s new film suggests that policies on drugs should be reviewed.

Winslet and Rocknroll, three years her junior, have been in a relationship for more than a year. They live together in West Sussex.
