Shinhan Financial Group will support the elderly in the low-income class to receive eyelid surgery.
The group vowed on Tuesday to support the full cost for the operations for 100 elderly people aged above 60 who receive a substantial government subsidy for living expenses or are in financial need, as a year-end gift.
The promising ceremony, held at the group’s headquarters in central Seoul, was attended by the Korean Association of Plastic Surgeons head Lee Sang-mok, Korea Association of Senior Welfare Centers secretary general Lee Gi-min, and other officials from the organizations.
Eyelids begin to droop as one gets older, which can cause headaches, poor eyesight and many other side effects, said the officials through a statement. It can be cured by removing the drooping skin. The surgery costs about 1 million won.
“I hope the seniors who suffer due to financial difficulties can enjoy bright lives after getting the surgery. We will continue to give hope and courage to the elderly in various ways,” said Han Dong-woo, chairman of Shinhan Financial Group.
