Samsung Electronics confirmed Thursday that its latest Galaxy Note 10.1 was chosen to house Queen Elizabeth II of Britain’s “digital time capsule.”

Although the company was not able to confirm the details on how its flagship tablet PC was selected to be included in the Royal Collection, foreign media outlets said it was picked over Apple’s iPad by the Royal Commonwealth Society charity.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 is the most recent addition to Samsung’s tablet PC lineup and enables people to use an embedded 6.5-millimeter S Pen for note-taking, sketching and drawing.

According to the BBC, people from all over world submitted photos and videos that could be stored on the tablet for view by the Queen as well as safekeeping in the Royal Collection.

Of the 150 gigabytes of collected data, only 60 entries were bundled onto the device, including clips from the 2011 Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and a rap about the 2011 London riots, it said.

The Royal Collection gathers items for future generations, including a host of technology products such as personal computers and DVDs, said the BBC.
