Producers of the latest James Bond movie “Skyfall” said that they used a 3-D-printed Aston Martin DB5 instead of a real one.

Three replica cars, a third of the size of the real car, were created using a 3-D printer to film stunt scenes where the priceless vehicle explodes in flames.

The models were made by British film props production firm Propshop Modelmakers Ltd., which used Voxeljet to print the cars.

Officials at Propshop and Voxeljet said that it is impossible to distinguish the Aston Martin models from the original even in the close-up shots after finishing the 3-D printing process.

Producers said that the priceless Aston Martin DB5, which was used in the first James Bond film exactly 50 years ago, remains intact thanks to the replica cars.

프롭샵과 복셀젯 관계자는 3D프린팅 기술을 덧입힌 덕에 최종 생산된 모조품을 실제 진품 애스턴마틴 DB5와 구분하기란 클로즈업 샷에서도 거의 불가능에 가까웠다고 밝혔다.

영화제작진은 이 모조품들 덕에 지난 50년 전에도 등장한 바 있는 제임스본드의 애마 애스턴마틴 DB5는 무수한 액션씬에도 전혀 손상을 입지 않을 수 있었다고 덧붙였다. (코리아헤럴드)
