CHEONAN (Yonhap News) -- South Korean Kim Dae-sub captured the Korean national golf championship for the third time on Sunday.

On the par-71 Woojeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, about 90 kilometers south of Seoul, Kim shot a two-under 69 to finish at five-under 279 at the 55th Kolon Korea Open.

Kim Dae-hyun, who shared the third-round lead with Kim Dae-sub at three-under, shot an even par round of 71 to finish two strokes back in second.

Kim Dae-sub won the Korean national championship as an amateur in 1998 and 2001. He became the first player to win the Korea Open both as an amateur and a professional, and the third with at least three titles in the event‘s 55-year history.

He took home 300 million won ($271,200) for the winner’s check, the largest offered at a golf tournament in South Korea.

Kim Dae-sub mixed in two birdies with a bogey on the front nine to take a one-shot lead at the turn. He picked up another birdie on the 10th, and parred the rest of the way for the victory.
