S&T Group, a local machinery and plant equipment manufacturer, said Monday that it had hosted a three-day field trip for a group of ambassadors to Korea from the Middle East on Oct. 3-5 to present its technology and production facilities.
The ambassadors were Jordanian Ambassador Omar Barakat Mnawer Al-Nahar, Iraqi Ambassador Khalil Al-Mosawi, Saudi Arabian Ambassador Ahmad Y. Al Barrak and Kuwaiti Ambassador Muteb Saleh F Al-Mutoteh.
During the field trip, the diplomatic officials visited the production lines of key affiliates of the group one by one, including S&T Heavy Industries, S&TC and S&T Motiv, based in South Gyeongsang Province and Busan, followed by a discussion session with group chairman Choi Pyung-kyu and other corporate executives, the group said.

The ambassadors’ interest in the field trip resulted from the group’s direct investments in the Middle East early this year. S&T Group established S&T GULF, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia in January this year to expand its plant equipment business in the Middle East and African markets. S&T GULF produces plant equipment such as air-cooled heat exchangers and heat recovery systems for boilers.
“All participants were impressed by the company’s advanced technology and production facilities. Furthermore, they advised that S&T target not only the plant equipment market but also large-scaled infrastructure projects in the region,” a company official said.
Saudi Arabian ambassador Ahmad Y. Al Barrak, in particular, promised to help S&T Group’s business in his country, the official added.
