BUSAN ― Korea Film Council announced on Sunday that it will hold a special forum about Asian cinema on Tuesday as a side event for the Busan Film Festival.

The forum, which will take place at BEXCO in Busan, will be attended by Sanford Panitch, president of Fox International Productions; Hengameh Panahi, president of Celluloid Dreams; and Terence Chang, producer for Lion Rock Productions.

The three panelists will discuss potential ways to launch joint film projects between Asian and non-Asian countries.

Industry experts from different countries, including Gao Jun, general manager of Beijing Shengshi Huarui Film Investment & Management Co., as well as Julienne Schulz, senior partner at Peacefulfish, a Berlin-based finance consulting company for film productions, will introduce the successful cases of jointly financed films by different countries.

KOFIC in April opened its film business center in Bejing, where Korean and Beijing-based producers, writers and directors can work on their joint film projects. The institute has been investing in Korean-Chinese joint productions as they are relatively easier to distribute in China compared to exclusively Korean-made films.

During the upcoming forum, a total of 12 selected Korean-Chinese joint projects by KOFIC, which will be partially financed by the state-run film organization, will be unveiled to the invited cineastes, investors, and distributors.
