Walk fest, dance party at Jung-gu

The 10th Seoul International Walking Festival will take place tonight and Sunday around Seoul Plaza.

The event involves four walks and is organized by the Korea Walking League.

A 10 km walk under the moonlight will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Seoul Plaza and take walkers by Namsan Mountain North Trail, National Theater of Korea, N Seoul Tower, Namsan Public Library, Ahn Jung Geun Memorial Hall and Sungnyemun before returning to Seoul Plaza.

A 25 km walk will kick off at 9 a.m. on Sunday at Seoul Plaza while a 5 km walk will start at 11 a.m. at the same place. Another 10 km walk offering a slightly different route from the Saturday night walk will kick off also at 11 a.m.

The registration fee is 10,000 won, but it is free for high school students and those who are younger. You can register online at www.walking.or.kr or register in person on the day.

Myeong-dong, a busy shopping area, will be transformed into an open-air club Saturday. The giant dance party kicks off at 10 p.m. and continues through 5 a.m. in front of the Woori Bank Myeong-dong Branch.

Following the inaugural event, the second dance night will be held on Oct. 6, Jung-gu office said.
