A 76-year-old British lawyer who left his 55-year-old girlfriend, a judge, for a paralegal who is 25 says he has the blessing of the young woman‘s mother.

Anthony Arlidge of London said he met Heather Lockwood last September and they quickly fell in love, causing him to end his relationship with Judge Constance Briscoe and move out of her $1.5 million home to get an apartment with Lockwood, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

Arlidge said he and Lockwood are “very happy” together.

“I’ve met her mother and she says if her daughter is happy then so is she,” he said.

Briscoe described the situation as “ridiculous.”

“I was shocked and upset but have not fallen out,” she said. “They‘re both very intelligent people but I think it’s bonkers.”

“Tony is too old for a midlife crisis. It is hilarious. I don‘t know what she wants or what she is trying to do but good luck to them,” Briscoe said.(UPI)

영국의 76세 변호사가 25세 여자친구의 어머니로부터 둘의 연애에 대한 축복을 받았다고 밝혔다.

런던의 변호사 앤서니 얼리지(76)는 지난 9월 헤더 록우드(25)를 만나 사랑에 빠졌다. 당시 앤서니는 판사 여자친구 콘스탄스 브리스코(55)와 교제 중이었으나, 젊은 연인과의 새 출발을 위해 전 여자친구의 집에서 나왔다. 

전 여자친구 집은 미화 150만 불 상당의 집이었고, 지금 76세 변호사와 25세 법률 보조원은 아파트에서 동거하고 있다.

얼리지는 그와 젊은 연인이 "굉장히 행복하다"고 밝혔다.

그는 여자친구의 어머니를 만났으며, "그녀의 어머니는 딸이 행복하다면 자신도 행복하다고 말했다"며 많은 나이 차이에도 남자친구로 인정 받았음을 피력했다.

그의 전 여자친구인 브리스코는 이 상황에 대해 "말도 안 된다"고 말했다.

그녀는 "충격 받고 화도 났지만, 난 무너지지 않았다"며 "그들은 굉장히 똑똑한 사람들이지만, 지금은 둘 다 제정신이 아니다"고 덧붙였다.

판사인 브리스코는 "앤서니는 늦바람 피기에도 너무 나이가 많다. 아주 우스운 일이다. 그리고 그 여자가 뭘 원하고 뭘 하려고 하는지는 잘 모르겠지만, 어쨌든 둘 다 잘 해 보길 바란다"고 씁쓸함을 나타냈다.
