The ASEAN-Korea Center will open a Korean language training course in Myanmar on Monday to help boost tourism from Korea to the country.

The Korean Language Training Course is a joint effort by those from the public and private sectors of tourism from both countries.

According to the center, the course will provide lectures on reading, listening, writing and basic conversational skills that are focused on tourism.

Myanmar will be the fifth ASEAN country to hold such a training course.

The center added that Korean tourism to Myanmar saw steady growth over the years, reaching 20,000 in 2011. In September, a direct flight will be launched by a Korean airline.

This year the center hopes to extend the lessons the rest of the ASEAN countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
