Since 2007, officials from India have visited Korea regularly to learn lessons from Korea’s economic policy and social infrastructure investments, and also to experience Korean culture. More than 570 IAS officers have visited Korea so far, a KDI School official said.
The program is part of the education reform undertaken by the government of India for the Indian Administrative Service, the country’s elite public service group.
This time, the visiting officials will “gain lessons from the fast and vast post-war development miracles of the Han River … to set a benchmarking model for India’s economic development,” according to a statement released by the KDI School.
The program aims to increase Korea and India’s short and long-term economic cooperation. Specifically, it is expected to enhance trade and foreign investment between the two countries as well as open up possibilities for Korean firms to enter the Indian market, a KDI School spokesperson said.
The program will run from July 23 to Aug. 2.
