Nichkhun Buck Horvejkul, the Thai-American member of the K-pop group 2PM, has been booked without detention for driving under the influence.

The 23-year-old, often known as Nichkhun, had a minor collision with a motorcycle at around 2:45 a.m. in southern Seoul’s upscale Gangnam area, the Gangnam Police Station said.

His blood alcohol concentration, tested at the scene, was 0.056 percent, a level that could lead to the suspension of his driver’s license, the police said.

His agency JYP Entertainment released a statement and apologized for the “carelessness” of the star’s actions.

JYP said it will faithfully cooperate with the police for further investigation.

Nichkhun sings and raps in the six-member boy band, which debuted on the K-pop scene in 2008.

JYP "닉쿤 음주 운전 공식 사과"

그룹 2PM의 닉쿤이 24일 음주 운전으로 적발된 것과 관련, 소속사인 JYP엔터테인먼트가 사과의 뜻을 전했다. 

JYP는 "본인은 물론 회사의 부주의로 잘못된 일"이라면서 "향후 필요한 조사가 있으면 성실히 임할 것"이라고 밝혔다. 

또 사고 당시 닉쿤은 회사 전체 아티스트가 참여한 공연 연습 후 회식 자리에서 맥주 2잔 정도를 마신 상태였다고 설명했다.

앞서 닉쿤은 이날 오전 2시45분께 강남구 청담동의 한 도로에서 술을 마신 상태 로 폴크스바겐 골프 승용차를 몰다 오토바이와 접촉 사고를 냈다.

사고 당시 닉쿤의 혈중 알코올 농도는 면허 정지에 해당하는 0.056%로, 경찰은 닉쿤을 도로교통법상 음주 운전 혐의로 불구속 입건했다.
