Thousands of bees swarmed outside the Stockholm headquarters of a major Swedish clothing chain.

Annette Rieger, who works in the H&M building, told The Local.se the swarm was outside for about 3 hours Friday afternoon.

"I saw them all over the windows. They even got through the first level of glazing," she said. "My colleague was super scared because she is allergic to bees!"

Johan Jarbrant, chairman of the Stockholm Beekeepers Association, and a colleague moved the swarm to a more isolated location away from downtown Stockholm. Wearing protective clothing and brought up to the bees' level by a crane lift, they calmed the insects with smoke and loaded them in boxes.

Jarbrant said there were about 5,000 bees in the swarm.

Swarming is a normal part of the bees' life cycle, with hives dividing when there are two queens and one group takes off to find a new home. (UPI)

스웨덴 스톡홀름 도심에 위치한 한 유명 의류 브랜드 본사 밖에 수천 마리의 벌떼가 몰려들어 화제가 되고 있다.

의류 브랜드인 H&M의 직원인 아네트 리거 씨는 13일(현지시간) 벌떼가 세 시간이나 회사 건물 밖에 있었다고 지역언론에 전했다.

리거 씨는 벌들이 창문을 온통 뒤덮고, 심지어 가장 바깥쪽에 있는 유리창 안 쪽으로 들어왔다고 말했다.

결국 스톡홀름 양봉업자 협회 회장인 요한 자브란트와 그의 동료들이 힘을 합쳐 벌 떼를 먼 곳으로 옮겼다.

그들은 보호 장비를 착용하고 연기로 5000마리에 달하는 벌들을 진정시켜 상자에 넣어 옮겼다. 이로서 한동안 많은 사람들을 공포에 떨게 했던 벌떼 소동을 겨우 마무리되었다.

이 벌들은 분봉 중이었던 걸로 알려져 있는데, 분봉이란 새로운 여왕벌의 출현으로 약 반수의 일벌이 예전 여왕벌과 함께 집을 나와 다른 곳으로 옮겨 다시 벌집을 짓는 현상을 말한다.
