South Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung will carry the No. 7 on his back for the Queens Park Rangers, according to the club on Thursday.

Although Park played for Manchester United with No. 13 for the past seven years, No. 7 holds special meaning for the 31-year-old.

The Korean football legend sported the number for his international debut with the Kyoto Purple Sanga in 2000 and carried the number over to PSV Eindhoven in 2003.

And for the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, Park represented Korea on the pitch with the lucky number.

Adel Taarabt played for QPR with No. 7 but was assigned No. 10 after re-signing with the Premier League club on July 11.

The announcement regarding Park’s jersey was made after Park announced his move from Manchester United to QPR on Monday.

Park joined Manchester United in July 2005 making him the first South Korean to play in the Premier League.

The Korean international has made 205 appearances and scored 27 goals for United since joining the club.

He won four Premier League titles and the 2007-2008 UEFA Champions League in the Red Devils uniform.

He joined the West London club’s training session on Tuesday ahead of its two-week Asian Tour, which begins on Saturday.

The Asian swing will take on local teams in the region including one in Malaysia. QPR is owned by Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes, from Malaysia.
