A Chinese Crested dog from Britain defeated an international group of competitors to win the title of World’s Ugliest Dog.

Mugly won the grand prize Friday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif., Bay City News Service reported.

“I couldn’t speak when they announced Mugly’s name,” the dog’s owner, Bev Nicholson, said. “I didn’t know which way to look. I was shaking as much as the dog.”

The prize carries a number of perks. In addition to a trophy, Mugly and Nicolson get $1,000, a stay at the Sheraton Petaluma, a photo shoot and a year’s supply of dog biscuits. (UPI)

세상에서 제일 못생긴 개 우승 '경악'

지난 금요일 미국 캘리포니아주 페틸루마에서 열린 ‘세상에서 가장 못생긴 개’ 대회에서 차이니즈 크레스티드 종인 머글리(Mugly)가 우승했다고 베이시티 뉴스가 보도했다.

차이니즈 크레스티드는 뼈대가 가늘고 우아한 개로서 특히 털이 없는 헤어리스 타입과 파우더 퍼프 타입으로 나뉘는 특징을 가져 진귀하게 여겨진다.

“우승이 발표됐을 때 머글리 만큼이나 떨고 있었어요”라고 머글리의 주인 베브 니콜슨(Bev Nicholson)이 말했다.

우승자에게는 천 달러의 상금과 페틸루마 쉐라톤 호텔 숙박권, 스튜디오 사진 촬영, 및 1년치 개 사료가 제공된다.
