A former Dacula, Ga., church mentor was sentenced to life in prison for impersonating a teen girl to lure young boys into having sex with him.

Atoine Johnson, 29, confessed to creating the MySpace persona of 14-year-old Kristen from Texas. He stole the photos from other MySpace accounts and used the false identity to gain the trust of teenaged boys, typically outcasts or loners. When the time was right, Johnson would convince them to rendezvous with him for sex, saying that if they did, they would later get to have sex with Kirsten, the Gwinnet (Ga.) Daily Post reported.

Gwinnet Superior Court Judge Timothy Hamil called the ploy “absolutely diabolical,” before slamming Johnson with a litany of charges Wednesday.

Johnson was found guilty of three counts of aggravated child molestation, 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, in connection with a cache of child pornography found on his computer; one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes and two counts of attempting to entice children, the Post reported.

During three days of testimony, Johnson spoke of Kirsten as a favor he did for the boys involved, boosting their self-esteem, the newspaper said.

“It was the profile that helped me to get to know them better,” he said. “I would use that as a way to shape them to be better people.”

When Hamil handed down the life sentence, with an additional 60 years of probation to keep him offline, family members begged for mercy.

Through tears, Johnson leaned over the defense table and pleaded with Hamil. “I’m not a monster,” he said. (UPI)

‘교회 오빠’ 성폭행 혐의로 감옥행

미국 애틀랜타에서 10대 소년들을 상대로 동성 성폭행 행각을 벌인 ‘교회 멘토’가 평생을 감옥에서 보낼 처지에 몰렸다.

21일(현지시간) 애틀랜타 지역 일간지인 귀넷데일리포스트와 AP통신에 따르면 귀넷카운티 항소법원은 전날 아동 유인과 학대, 성추행 혐의로 기소된 안톤 존슨 전 헤브론침례교 주일학교 교사에게 종신형을 선고했다.

검찰에 따르면 20대인 존슨은 소셜네트워크인 마이스페이스에 ‘텍사스에 사는 15세 크리스틴’이라는 여학생으로 가입한 뒤 이 교회 여름성경학교에 다니는 어린 남학생들에게 이메일을 보내거나 심지어 여자 목소리로 전화를 걸어 성관계를 맺자고 제의했다.

‘크리스틴’은 이 과정에서 “너희들이 나와 성관계 사실을 영원한 비밀로 간직할 것이라 믿을 수 있게끔 존슨과 먼저 성관계를 맺으라”고 요구했고, 남학생 2명이 존슨의 속임수에 넘어간 것으로 드러났다.

니젤 러시 검사는 “검사 생활 13년 동안 이런 사악한 천재는 처음 본다”며 극악무도한 범죄에 정의의 심판을 내려달라고 요청했다.

그러나 존슨은 원고들이 거짓말로 자신을 모함하고 있다며 억울함을 호소했다.

존슨은 “교회에서 유치원생부터 대학생까지 500명의 멘토로 활동하는 동안 이들에게 신체적 접촉을 한 것은 단 한번도 없다”며 구강 성행위는 동성애자인 원고들과 합의에 따른 것이라고 주장했으나 판사는 받아들이지 않았다. (연합뉴스)
