A Missouri woman was caught making meth in her purse inside of a Walmart store, police said.

The woman and a man were pulled aside by store security who discovered that the woman was making methamphetamine in her purse, KMOX-TV, St. Louis, reported.

The store was evacuated out of fear for customers' safety.

St. Louis County Police Lt. Mark Cox said if the meth concoction leaked or spilled, fumes could have quickly dispersed throughout the store and sickened lots of people.

"The sergeant on the scene that helped to dismantle it said that it was cooking when they showed up, and had the potential to become flammable or blow up at any time," Cox said.

Cox said the use of so-called "shake-and-bake kits" is on the rise.

"It's kind of scary," said a customer who was evacuated from the store. "I'm just kind of astonished that somebody would come up here with a meth lab in their purse. And be dumb enough to shoplift on top of it."

The report did not say what happened to the woman, whose name was not released. (UPI)

대형 할인매장에서 필로폰 제조한 여성 체포

미국의 대형 할인점인 월마트 안에서 필로폰을 제조하던 한 여성이 경찰에 붙잡혔다.

현지 언론은 한 여성이 자신의 핸드백 속에서 필로폰을 만들고 있는 것을 매장 경호원이 발견했다고  전했다.

세인트 루이스 카운티 경찰 마크 콕스는 만일 혼합된 필로폰이 누출되어 매장 안에 연기가 퍼졌다면 손님들에게 큰 해가 되었을 것이라고 말했다.

콕스는 “현장에 있던 경찰이 (필로폰을) 분해하는데 큰 도움을 줬다. 그들을 붙잡았을 때 이미 제조되는 과정에 있어 폭발 가능성이 있었다”며 “흔들어 가열하는 필로폰 제조 세트”의 사용자가 늘어나고 있다고 말했다.

매장에서 피신했던 한 손님은 “누군가가 이곳에서 필로폰을 만들었다는 사실과 바보같이 도둑질까지 감행했다는 것이 경악스럽고 무섭다”고 말했다.
