The Hyundai Kia Automotive Group said Sunday it will provide 51 eco-friendly vehicles to the organizing committee of the Yeosu Expo 2012 to help facilitate logistics.
   The Expo will run for three months from Saturday and is expected to attract more than 8 million visitors from across the globe with the emphasis being put on challenges posed by climate change and protecting the marine environment.
   Among the vehicles to be provided are hydrogen fuel-cell sport utility vehicle (SUV) Tucson ix and the SUV Mohave, electric vehicles such as crossover utility vehicle (CUV) Ray EV and the Blueon, and a compressed natural gas (CNG) hybrid bus.
   About 20 hydrogen and electric cars will be allocated to those from developing countries, and the rest for ceremonial functions and the transportation of troupes performing during the exposition.
   Hyundai-Kia said that it will begin mass production of sub-compact electric cars in 2014.
   The company also plans to localize the manufacturing of core parts of hydrogen vehicles this year so it can mass produce them by 2015.

현대기아차, 여수엑스포에 친환경차 51대 지원

현대기아차는 오는 12일부터 개최되는 여수엑스 포에 투싼ix/모하비 수소연료전지차, 레이 EV/블루온 전기차, 연료전지버스, CNG 하 이브리드버스 등 총 51대의 친환경 차량을 지원한다고 6일 밝혔다.
    이들 차량은 의전과 공연단 이동, 조직위원회 관련 업무 등에 주로 이용된다. 
특히 수소연료전지차와 전기차 20여대는 엑스포에 참가하는 개발도상국들의  업무지 원을 위해 제공된다.
    현대기아차는 전세계적으로 친환경차 개발 경쟁이 치열해지고 있는 만큼 2014년 상반기 준중형 전기차를 선보일 계획이다.
    수소연료전지차 분야에서도 핵심부품의 국산화를 통해 올해 소량 생산을 시작한 뒤 2015년 본격 보급에 나설 방침이다.
