Ruling party chastises opposition candidate for foul language

The ruling Saenuri Party on Wednesday chastised an opposition candidate running in next week's parliamentary elections for a series of vile sexual remarks aimed at former U.S. President George W. Bush, among others.

Kim Yong-min, a candidate of the Democratic United Party (DUP), has drawn fire for his foul remarks on Internet radio and prompted the Saenuri Party earlier in the day to issue a statement effectively calling for his withdrawal from the race.

In a radio program broadcast in the mid-2000s, the candidate suggested carrying out a terrorist attack on the U.S., releasing a serial killer to rape and murder Bush, former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as showing porn on national television after midnight.

"Kim is not qualified to seek the votes of the electorate of the Republic of Korea (South Korea)," said the statement released by Rep. Cho Yoon-sun, a spokeswoman for the ruling party.

Cho also called on the leaders of the DUP and the minor opposition Unified Progressive Party to explain which of Kim's remarks they agreed with and led them to nominate him as their single unified candidate in Seoul's Nowon district.

"(I) was appalled that a sober person could say such things.

They made me suspect that Kim might be suffering from sexual deviation," Cho said.

The candidate also appears on the political satire program "Naneun Ggomsuda," or "I'm a Petty-minded Creep," known for its hard-hitting criticism of the current government. (Yonhap News)

그러면서 "그 외에도 부끄러운 과거가 많이 있을 것이다. 있다면 모두 반성한다 . 새로 태어나겠다"고 약속했다.

김 후보는 "'비키니 사건'때 정봉주 전 의원이 보낸 편지가 생각난다"며 '대한 민국에서 진보의 가치를 지향하면서도 양성평등적 교육을 제대로 받지 못하고 성적 약자의 위치에 있는 여성의 문제를 진지하게 고민한 적이 없다'는 정봉주 전 의원의 글을 인용한 뒤 거듭 사과의 뜻을 표시했다.

동영상 사이트인 유튜브에 게시된 `시사돼지! 막말돼지! 김용민의 막말'이라는 제목의 동영상에서 김 후보는 욕설, 비속어, 성적인 표현을 거침없이 사용해 논란을 불러 일으켰다.
