The American Chamber of Commerce will hold committee meetings on real estate and Korean politics this week.

A meeting on Thursday will discuss the current state and future outlook of the commercial and retail real estate market in Korea as well as large scale development projects.

The meeting will be at 7:30 a.m. at Lotte Hotel in Seoul and will examine issues such as the growing and declining areas of real estate, engines of growth in retail development, the track record for large-scale development projects in Korea and foreign investors’ interest in green-field development projects and other topics.

Panelists for the breakfast meeting are three long-serving executives in the Korean real estate industry: Steven Kim, managing director for CBRE Korea; James Tyrell, director at IFC Seoul and Julie Ahn, managing director of the Investment Department, DTZ Korea.

On Friday, the AMCHAM Government and International Affairs Committee will discuss Korean politics including the April general elections and the December presidential poll.

The guest speaker will be president of Korea Economic Research Institute Dr. Choi Byung-il who will offer his insight on the expected changes in the Korean political economy. The luncheon will be held at the Grand Hyatt hotel.
