Huh Il-sup, CEO and chairman of Green Cross Corp., has been given the Person of the Year award at the BioSpectrum Award in Singapore.

Green Cross, a Korean biopharmaceutical firm, said Huh took the award on Friday, recognized for his longstanding achievement and contributions in the field. BioSpectrum is a market researcher which also publishes an industry journal.

Huh had spearheaded a slew of research projects to develop medicines for rare diseases, which are largely sidelined by big pharmaceutical companies due to the limited market potential.

“The company will continue to develop new drugs based on the research and development know-how to move beyond the Asian market,” Huh said after he received the award.

Green Cross specializes in the development and commercialization of vaccines, plasma-derivatives, recombinant proteins and therapeutic antibodies.
