This is a regular feature introducing associations and clubs that expats can get involved in. This week, Expat Living spoke to Keira Lee of networking group Seoulites ― Ed.
● Name: Seoulites, Seoul Professionals Network
● Location: Seoul
● Number of members: 92
● Established: 2011
Who is it for? Seoulites is open to all demographics seeking to extend their professional social network in Seoul. The goal of our mixers is to provide a casual and productive atmosphere for attendees to mingle with people from different cultures, professions and points of view. The ultimate purpose of our networking mixers is to help broaden and enhance professional engagement in Seoul. Anyone is welcome to drop in on one of our monthly networking mixers. After putting on only a few mixers so far, Seoulites has already become a large community. If this sounds good to you, check us out on Facebook or Meetup.com ― just search for Seoulites!
What goes on? Seoulites holds monthly networking mixers at different venues in Seoul ― typically around Itaewon due to its central location. More than 60 people come each month to meet new people and broaden their social networks. While there will be icebreakers at the very start of each mixer, it’ll ultimately be up to you to put yourself out there and make those connections ― so if you’re a bit shy, bring along a friend or two. In addition, we’ll sometimes have live music and other entertainment. There is no entrance fee or dress code, just come and have a great time!
Plans for the future? We are constantly amazed by the number of people that come to our mixers and the positive feedback we’ve received, and we’re just going to keep getting bigger and better. As our membership continues to expand we are also open more people getting involved in the team that organizes the monthly meetups to make the mixers even more diverse. So if you feel like can add something to our organization and would like to be more involved, send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
Membership fees: None.
How to join? Visit our page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SeoulitesKorea) or Meetup (www.meetup.com/Seoulites) and join.
What is the highlight of the year? The Seoulites’ year-end networking party is on Dec. 23 in Itaewon. Full details will be announced at a later date. Not only will we put on a special Christmas performance, it will also be our first joint event. A charity event for Gosen Community Effort ― an organization headed by one of our good friends that helps place African children in schools will follow our meetup.
